HOW TO BE AN UBER DRIVER IN KENYA

1. Go to their official website and Sign up online

If you have an email address and a smartphone , you are ready to get started.Sign up now from here.

2. Upload your documents

You will need the following documents

  • National identity card
  • PSV driving license
  • Safety screening (Nairobi and Mombasa)
  • Complete a Certification session
  • Profile photo.Below are some of the guidlines
    • The photo must be a forward-facing, centered photo including the driver’s full face and top of shoulders, with no sunglasses
    • Must be a photo only of the driver with no other subject in the frame, well-lit, and in focus. It cannot be a driver’s license photo or other printed photograph

3. Get a vehicle

Make sure that your vehicle is in excellent working and physical condition, so that it meets our standards in Kenya. Remember your vehicle will receive uberX and uberCHAPCHAP trips in Nairobi.

Note: in Mombasa, at this time, we will only be onboarding new drivers for uberPOA (TukTuk).Vehicle requirements

5. Activate your account

If you’ve completed all the above steps, congratulations! You’re ready to activate your account and start making money.Hit the road.

Uber Vehicle requirements in Kenya

Make sure it meets the vehicle requirements in Kenya, and remember that you’ll make more money if you keep your costs low.

  • Model year 2012 and above
  • 4-door car
  • Motor vehicle registration book
  • PSV insurance
  • Vehicle inspection report
  • Business permit
  • Partner National ID

Uber Comfort

Only spacious sedans and stations wagons with an engine capacity above 1300cc and less than or equal to 1800cc will be eligible for Uber Comfort category. Note that Uber X will be rebranded to Uber Comfort.

Additional requirements

  • 4 door sedan in good condition
  • Working windows and air conditioning
  • No full-sized vans or truck vehicles
  • No salvaged or rebuilt vehicles

Additional Requirements

  • Car in good condition
  • 8 year age limit

  • Ensure your Vehicle Registration Number, Make and Model match the vehicle that is on your Uber account
  • Remember to always upload the correct document to the field. Incorrect documents will not be accepted
